Different from most of the parks in Rwanda, Akagera Park is made of savanna woodland vegetation. It is located on the eastern side of Rwanda closely bordering Tanzania. The park is well endowed with wildlife and provides the warm experience of the savannah woodlands. It is a park that gives and individual the classical African safari experience. When visiting the park one expects to spot the following game zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and hundreds of bird species, such as the rare shoebill stork. Alongside this the southern region of the park Lake Ihema is host to a numerous number of hippos and crocodiles.
Accommodations in the park are close by and vary in services and types so as to suit the needs of each individual.
