Being one of the most seasonal b parks in Tanzania, the park is well known for its vast migratory movements. Tarangire National Park is located between the meadows of Maasai Steppe to the south east and the lakes of the Great Rift Valley to the north and west. The park occupies an area of up to 2600km2, during the rainy season; the animals migrate towards the maasai steppe and only come back through the dry season attracted by River Tarangire. It is therefore known as a dry season park and then can you spot large herds of elephants along the river banks. The animals to be spotted include large populations of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, giraffe, eland, impala and warthog all go in search of water. Lions and hyenas also follow on the quest accordingly.
