Home to the highest peak in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro harbours the majestic snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro which stands at a height of 5,895 meters above sea level. The park covers an area of up to 1688km2. The park gives access to hiking and trekking routes for the mountain. Some of the most popular routes include Lemosho route, Machame route and the grand transverse route. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro takes an approximate of 7days for a well fit person. However, not most of the hikers managed to get to the peak of the mountain. The mountain is well distributed with wildlife at different altitudes and vegetation levels. Around the base of its tallest peak, relatively accessible hiking trails wind through rainforest inhabited by colobus monkeys and past the volcanic caldera of Lake Chala. Approaching the summit of Uhuru Peak, the slopes steepen and are studded with glacial ice fields. Climbing the rooftop of Africa is one of the most exciting activities for hikers and mountain climbers.
